” TASGOT BAS ” is a phrase in Arabic which mean in English is ” just fall, that’s all” which is a clear demand to Omar Al-Bashir to leave his position as the President of Sudan. On 19 December 2018, the Sudanese people decided to end the deteriorating situation in the country by going out in marches and demonstrations condemning the government and the deterioration of freedoms and economic and political conditions throughout Sudan.
The story of the famous phrase “Tasgot Bas” began with a comment on a post on Facebook when the government began cutting the Internet off people when one guy comments on his girlfriend post saying “that the internet is going down”, saying “A government that divides me from you, ” TASGOT BAS”
Soon this phrase became the official slogan of demonstrations, and you can hear it anywhere in the street, parties, homes and from men, women, and children, and social Media filled with it ridiculously fast.
As usual, the government responded with excessive violence, dozens of martyrs and hundreds of casualties and hundreds were arrested. It did not spare on brutality, abuse of demonstrators in the streets and torture of detainees.

Then came the big shift in the demands of the demonstrators from economic reform to demand the fall of the regime, headed by Omar al-Bashir.
The slogan is still echoed by the Sudanese people until now and it will be until they achieve their demands.
After 4 months the Sudanese finally pushed hard and occupied the area in front of General Armed forces headquarter in Khartoum “Al-Qeyada Al-Amma” on the 6th of April 2019, millions of Sudanese merch and gathered in the area and the even slept there for 4 days.
